Things to do in Oxfordshire
You can walk from Ambury Farm to The Boot, a free house which has good beers, wine and an excellent restaurant.
There's a pleasant route down A40 (west) over the Cotswolds to the M5 and Gloucester (via the Air Balloon) or Cheltenham (less than 40 miles) if you prefer.
Ambury Farm is an ideal stop for the independent person looking for space to stay near the Cotswolds, Blenheim Palace (Duke of Marlborough's home) or Kirtlington Polo Club.
The shopping opportunities are superb, including Oxford City, Bicester Designer Outlet Village and also Cotswold Towns such as Burford and Stow on the Wold. Between these locations you can be sure to find anything you could desire - from discounted designer labels to extremely specialist souvenirs and collectables.
Horse Racing can be found at Cheltenham (Gold Cup) and Newbury. Both Badminton and Blenheim have horse trials and point to points abound in the season.
For a real piece of history see Lodge Park and the original 17th Century horse racing grand stand. This is run by the National Trust.
The NT also has many other properties within an easy rural run. Try Snowshill just west of Stow on the Wold, or Upton House near Banbury. Don't miss Minster Lovell's ruined hall which is on the banks of the river Windrush, and even has free entry!
Silverstone Racing Circuit is easy to reach, there's a nice way through Bicester, keep on and turn left at Stowe.
It's easy to get to Gaydon Motor Museum and test track as well!
